Biographical/Historical Note

The General Assembly was established as Georgia's governing legislature in 1777. It divides into the House of Representatives and Senate.

This collection consists of an act dated January 13, 1798, regarding an article of the 1798 Georgia Constitution on respecting "insolvent Debtors" and the detention of such persons in prison. On the last page is a copy of William Cowper's "Ode to Charity."
