The French Benevolent Society was organized in Savannah, Georgia, on September 26, 1871. It was composed of persons of French descent and its purpose was for aiding needy persons of French descent.
This collection contains the minute book of the French Benevolent Society of Savannah, Georgia. The first set of minutes contains the list of organizing members. The minutes from 1871 to July 3, 1879 are in both French and English on opposite pages. The remainder of the minutes is entirely in French. The minutes contain tributes to deceased members.
