Egbert DuBois (1825-1915) was a merchant in New York. He married Kate Hope in 1862. By 1870, he had moved to Beaufort, South Carolina, where he continued his business.
This collection consists of two letter books containing approximately thirty business letters written by Egbert Dubois to correspondents in Savannah, Charleston, Bluffton, Beaufort, and other places throughout the Georgia and South Carolina low country. Many of the letters are illegible.
Material was acquired from granddaughter of creator.
